Jason Schumpert has been named as Edgewood Middle School’s new Principal.
“I’m honored to lead a school such as Edgewood,” Schumpert said. “I look forward to working with the students, staff, and school community at Edgewood. Our goal is to continue building on the tremendous tradition of excellence that has been established at the school. I’m confident that our team will continue to work together to assist all of our children with reaching their full potential.”
Prior to his selection in District 52, Schumpert worked as an Assistant Principal at JET Middle School and Strom Thurmond High School in Edgefield County School District for five years. During his 20 years in public education, Schumpert has served as an administrator, physical education teacher, athletic coach, and history teacher. Schumpert obtained his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Lander University and his master’s degree from the United States Sports Academy in Sports Administration. In 2012, Schumpert received his Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University.
“Mr. Schumpert possesses outstanding leadership traits that will assist in continuing the success at Edgewood Middle School,” Superintendent Dr. Beth Taylor stated. “We are excited about his track record of achieving success and look forward to working with him to see all of our middle school students become college and career ready.”
In July, Schumpert will replace current Edgewood Principal David Schoofield who was recently announced as District 52’s new Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.
